What is HBCUPrideNation!

Hello and welcome to the new HBCUPrideNation! blog. I know you are wondering what HBCUPRide! is and what its relevance is to the HBCUNation today. Well I'm here to explain everything that you want to know.

What is HBCUPrideNation!?
  • HBCUPrideNation! is a national media outlet for HBCU's starting out of NC. The mission of HBCUPrideNation is to unite HBCU's nationally while uplifiting the Spirit and Pride of Historically Black Colleges and Universities through multimedia to strengthen the relevancy of HBCUs because HBCU's are here to stay and they will never die because of the history, its influence on black culture and education. HBCUPrideNation will be your one stop shop to find out the many successes of the great students and alumni that have attended and are currently attending HIstorically Black Colleges and Universities today. HBCUPrideNation will also be used to keep the nation in the know about what events, conferences, important dates, etc. We will also promote events for any HBCU. There will be interviews posted on the blogs for students that stand out and for those who are in leadership such as SGA and other on campus organizations alike as well as those who are chasing after their ultimate dream. This blog is student based and will provide media attention to our amazing students that are nurtured by HBCU's.
What is the ultimate goal of HBCUPrideNation?
  • The ultimate goal of HBCUPrideNation! is to become the official multimedia company for HBCU's across the nation and  to become a a household name across the nation. Some other goals for HBCUPrideNation is to become a national mentoring program for high school students, be the event planning agency for HBCU's, to become an international service organization to provide humanitarian work to underprivileged and third world countries, to make HBCUPrideNation a national magazine,  and to make HBCUPrideNation a national talk show on a predominately black television station like TV One, Centric, or BET,
Who am I?
  • My name is Travis Jackson and I am the editor and founder of HBCUPrideNation! I attend the illustrious North Carolina A&T State University. I am a Journalism & Mass Communications major with a concentration in Public Relations from Charlotte, NC. During my time at A&T I have held many leadership positions on campus such as Freshmen Class President 2007-2008 where I initiated the Ghana Literacy Drive which was service learning project for Ghana, Africa. The freshmen class raised 3500 books and Chancellor Stanley F. Battle paid for 5 students to take the books to Africa and mentor and read to the street children. These students were Crista Greenlee, Wayne Kimball Jr, Sargent Nelson, Akimi Sinclair, and myself. During the 2009-2010 academic school year. I was Vice President of External Affairs for the Jasmin Administration. This is where I found my passion for public relations and began to understand how powerful public relations can be and how valuable it is. During the summer of 2010 I was granted an opportunity by the editor of HBCUDigest which is an online media publication across the nation Mr. Jarrett Carter to be the Public Relations Director for the Mid-Atlantic region, this includes all HBCU in NC, VA, MD, and DC and this is also where I realized that my true potential and talent is public relations. I am very personable and I care about the quality of life for other people. Striving to influence someone else and to help them to realize their full potential is a goal that I try to achieve everyday. Another personal goal that I have is to own my own promo/event company called ChasinDREAMSInc. which will take up and coming artists, actors, politicans, etc. and help them achieve their ultimate dreams and be the media outlet for them during their careers.
